September is National Preparedness Month
Insurance Department to focus on educating Ohioans on being prepared from an insurance standpoint
COLUMBUS —September has been designated as National Preparedness Month. The Ohio Department of Insurance, along with government agencies across the state and nation, will spend the next month educating Ohioans on various ways to make sure Ohioans and their possessions are protected in the event a disaster were to strike.
“It’s extremely important that our citizens have their financial house in order before a disaster strikes,” said Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson. “Far too often, we find that Ohioans think they are adequately insured only to realize after a disaster hits that they did not have the proper amount of coverage. By that time, it’s too late.”
Insurance topics that will be highlights during National Preparedness Month include purchasing flood insurance, recovering from severe weather, creating a home inventory, and preparing a small business for a disaster.
